Not to be (too much of) a wise @$$, but the time it took you to type this post is probably longer than it took me to fill out my LTCF application.

    Just sayin'...

    Why not open carry?

Carry or transport in/on a vehicle normally requires an LTCF. "Why not open carry" wouldn't cut it.

Technically, it appears to me that stopping at the FFL is not on the approved list of things to do. The statute's wording could be more clear cut, but sometimes they like making things as nebulous as possible.

So, would such a stop be legal? Maybe not. Would someone bust your chops for it? Maybe not.

^ OP as you noted & as Sgt. K confirmed the LTCF is the obvious answer. The time it takes to debate all of the "what if's" is lunacy in comparison.

I'm not saying that some LEO or court won't give you trouble, but I don't think the INTENTION of the law was to prevent someone from going from a LGS (place of repair/maintenance/sale/appraisal) to a practice range. Maybe it's time to push Harrisburg for a change/clarity in the law.

    How about a complete removal?

By the time all this took place, a meteorite might land on your head.

    First off, IANAL!

There was a person who thought he could buy a firearm for a relative, at a discount, then transfer the firearm to that relative, which he did. Did not work out so well for that person.

My point is, good intentions sometimes ends one up in dangerous waters.

Tread lightly, and follow the law, but NOT in a convoluted way.

That's my first instinct; however, I'll take incremental improvements over the status quo.

I see it as part of the break-in process for our legislature. When they learn that the world won't stop spinning and campaign contributions won't decrease for even considering a minor alteration to a state gun law, we can then push for bigger and better things.
