I think we just need to post more often and then we’ll gain traction on the posts we want to see

Unlike some I believe change can be good. Maybe separate sections for different firearms would be good. I think it would be nice if posters would also list there location when posting, it sucks when you find a firearm you are interested in only to open it and find you have to drive across the state to and pick it up.

I agree. Opening a post is way to hard.

I agree with the OP even though the post is dated 2017. If the classifieds were sorted into more defined subcategories it would be easier to search/browse for something specific vs digging thru days upon days of posts. The search feature while useful isn't ideal when you are just browsing for something like say pistol mags for any of the multiple ones most of us own.

Great example is the VA Gun Trader forum. Its logically sorted into categories and is easy to navigate.

I understand it would take some time and work on the moderators/admins to restructure the classifieds but once changed it falls on the poster to get their items into the correct place. Something as simple as a PM to the OP for posting in the wrong category would mitigate problems and after xx days the post could be deleted/moved by an admin. Tie that into REP power deductions so it has some consequences to it.

The search works just fine, when the users enter proper information into their posts. It's a user problem, not a site problem.

Streaker69 thanks for the quick reply.

I never said the search didn't work. I understand your point that if a user gives incomplete info in a post that's a big part of the problem as to incomplete search results.(garbage in-garbage out) If I was searching for a specific item like a Savage 99 rifle I would use that and maybe a few minor variations of that term. The issue becomes if I want to look for something more generic like pistol magazines. The search doesn't effectively capture those things 100% unless I revert back to a more case sensitive search term like Glock 17 magazine which is counterproductive to just browsing the forum for magazines.

If the forum was broken down into sub categories just for Example: Shotgun ammo, rifle ammo, pistol ammo, rimfire ammo, black powder, and reloading it would allow someone to go directly to all posts related to that topic and view everything. I also think it would make the search function more efficient by enabling someone to add those additional filters to better target what they are looking for.

I'd be happy if there was a field for your location that showed. I always put my location in the subject, but then i lose out on subject space. I realize the subject space is generous, but i take full advantage of it.

IMO, there's really not that much traffic here for that kind of differentiation.

My feelings are try to do something with the picture posting on this forum. I am tech savvy and I have a nice digital camera (not my phone) that formats pics for web attachments, I use is exclusively for internet sales which I do often on Craigslist,e-Bay,Armslist, LetGo and OfferUp,. all of these sites take my photos without issue, I do nothing different with my settings and its a 50/50 crap shoot if PAFOA will download my photos, I have no interest or need for second party photo hosting sites, prefer to download from my PC

As far as the sub forums on the classifieds, I dont really dont think its needed I just click on the new posts tab to see what is going on from my last log on. Besides that I often see not what I'm looking for but something else that peaks my interest and drains my wallet
