30 Day Wait for CCW?
Recently heard a rumor that Lancaster Country Sheriff was going to a 30 day waiting period for all CCW applications regardless of whether they were first time applications or renewals. Anyone else hear anything about this? I don't think I have ever waited in almost 30 years of having a CCW. Last time I needed a renewal I did it on lunch break while serving on a jury.

I haven't heard of anything, I've never had a wait, always issued on the spot.
That said, we might be getting a new sheriff soon anyway. Who knows what kind of idiotic policies the new guy will put in place.Rules are written in the stone,

Same here. Never had a wait. If true, I'd like to hear the reasoning. I'll do some more digging around.

Re: 30 Day Wait for CCW?
Technically he has 45 calendar days to issue according to the UFA. If something changes, there really isn't much that can be done as long as they issue within that time frame.
It would be really sad if they started not issuing immediately.Rules are written in the stone,

Apparently it is true and due to processing times?

Re: 30 Day Wait for CCW?
That doesn't say what you think it says, either:
On Thursday, June 1, 2017, the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office will no longer issue License to Carry Permits on the same day we receive the application. You will be notified when approved and given 30 days to pick-up your License to Carry Permit.
Regardless, it sucks, and I don't believe their reason at all. Every time I've been in, it's taken no more than 20 minutes.Rules are written in the stone,

and a trip to the house of pain.

Ok, I read it a bit more closely. They are saying they won't process same day and will notify you when it is ready. At that point you have 30 days to pick it up. No information about how long they expect to take to process. It will be interesting to see how long they take.

Re: 30 Day Wait for CCW?
I stopped into Lancaster 2 weeks ago to renew. First time in the Lancaster Courthouse as I recently moved from Bucks County. There are signs displayed in the Sheriffs office saying that as of June 1, 2017, they will not issue LTCF's on-site. It explains that you will receive a call when it is ready and have 30-days to pick it up. That being said, I went in, filled out the application, waited for 10mins, had my pictures taken and was given the LTCF on-spot. Perhaps they have the signs up so they can speed things up in busy times? I dunno. All-in-all it was a great experience, with one exception. Apparently you are not allowed to carry your cell-phones into the courthouse. There are signs posted, although I managed to not see them on my way in. An older sheriffs deputy had a smartass attitude when he told me I had to take them back out to the car. And even though I disagree fundamentally with the policy, I realize it was me that missed the signs. But his personality was quite a turn-off. Glad he wasn't still at the security checkpoint when I returned.
