Default Question About .38 Special +P Specs

I noticed Buffalo Bore sells a .38 Special +P round with the following specs:

    158 gr. (1,000fps/M.E. 351 ft.lbs.)

Question: are there are any risks of damaging the firearm with this powerful of a load? Or are modern +P rated firearms built to handle the extra power? (I notice most +P I have seen are below 300ft.lbs. and below 1,000 fps)

Yep, depends on the firearm. I wouldn't use it in my 1980"s Colt aluminum frame snubby but my K frame Smith could probably handle it. Whatever I wouldn't make a steady diet of it.
Suggest you contact the manufacturer. FWIW looking at old time loads of people like Keith and Skelton you'll find they were running some pretty outrageous rounds.
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

+P is +P - there are SAAMI specs for +P ammunition, so if your gun is approved for use with +P ammo you are good to go regardless of manufacturer, bullet weight velocity, etc.

+P+ is another story altogether. No SAAMI specs so you are buying a pig-in-a-poke, as my father would have said.

Any firearm rated for +p ammo is good to use Buffalo bore in without fear. I have two boxes of it in the 180gr lead fp 357 magnum for when I'm in the bear's neck of the woods.
