you 1st ID folks aren't gonna be too happy about this one...
There's a sh*t-storm brewing... the Army went and sold the Big Red One patch to Sears for a fashion clothing line.

Sucks... but I wouldn't be surprised to see this happening a lot in the near future though as Army units get "discovered" by kids who play Video Games.
The Big Red One has been huge in the Call of Duty Series and it also had a movie made out of it way back in the day.The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

When I was 12, I had a t-shirt that said "Property of US Army".
I wasn't, and it didn't motivate me to join.
Aside from that, I don't care for the idea much. It cheapens what those men died for.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

I wasn't too keen on issuing black berets to EVERYBODY, but they did that after I got my discharge..... This just makes me wonder what exactly the folks are thinking. Then, I read the articles and realize the DoD is trying to get more recruits. This is more than a money and marketing ploy.....

I wouldn't take it out on Sears to much...some moron in the DoD is doing or approving this.
As far as Sears goes they ARE one of the good guys.
By law...an employer is required to "hold open" your job if you are called up for active duty if you are in the Reserves or a Guard unit. "HOLD OPEN" your job...that is IT!
Sears has historically gone one step further. They pay the difference in salary to the called up employee AND maintain all benefits including medical, dental and bonuses.
Let's see how this all pans out before we condemn Sears, I am sure a lot of vets past and present are going to get fired up and try to knock this off."Disperse you Rebels! Damn you! Throw down your Arms and Disperse!" British Major Pitcairn at Lexington April 19, 1775

It doesn't suprize me and it doesn't offend me. The Army as well as the other services are slowly having dificulty in making their monthly mission numbers. VOLLAR is not working well with the wartime Army. Hey if kids want to feel like they are part of the miltary then I am all for it, I grew up wearing old parts of uniforms and it didn't PO my Dad. I have seen unit patches for years on Civy clothing. With the current poorly planned and executed mottos I can see this happening on a bigger scale.

I don't see how any branch of the US government has any right to copyright any material, regardless. Any company should be able to use any insignia of any US armed forces branch. Could someone point to where the federal government has that right within the constitution?

This seems no big difference from NYPD caps and sweatshirt line or Border Patrol caps. At least Sears paid for the privilege. I never was in 1st ID, but I'll be getting feedback from some that were.
