Default First Hammer Fired Gun 45 ACP

    HK45 Compact 45 ACP

Been researching for my new hammer fired gun that is in 45 ACP, 10+1 threaded and compact that have "declocking and a safety" messures around $1,200-1,300.
Is the price range about right? What's your opinions on H&K?

    Thank You

You can find the HK45C for MUCH cheaper than that...

If you're willing to get tan...

But even black should be under $1K online.

What are you planning on using it for? (oops, I missed the threaded part)

If you're looking for a suppressor H&K .45 cal gun, I'd say go for the USP Tactical .45 (or Mark 23 if you don't mind the size and price). Unlike the HK45CT and HK45 Tactical, it has raised sights for clearing the suppressor, along with the Match trigger kit (well, most of it). Big chunky grip, so feel it to be sure, but it holds 2 more rounds too. I have the Mark 23, and it's a blast to shoot suppressed, and also have the USP Tactical, but in 9mm.

For other brand of hammer fired .45 suppressor guns, definitely look at the FNX45 Tactical. It's at the top of my list, because can you really argue with 15+1 rounds of .45? RMR option is cool too. Note the difference in barrel thread... FN uses inch CW threads, HK uses metric CCW threads (0.578" CW vs M16 CCW, M16 CW on the Mark 23).

Yeah, it's kinda expensive. With that kind of price I rather get Kimber 1911. I so wish the 1911 have a declocking lever. I'll just wait and see if they're on sale. I just pre order Sig Sauer X-Carry I'll play with it awhile.

You can usually find them for used for far less than $1k. Check Tanner's, they usually have one in their used case.

H&K are great guns. Super reliable. I had a USP compact and it was more accurate than my full size Glock. They are expensive and mags aren't cheap.

I don't think it makes sense to have a decocker on a 1911, since it's SAO. I'd actually say it's a dangerous thing to have on a 1911... I'm not a 1911 expert (I don't own one, at the very least), but from what I understand, a lot of 1911s use a Series 70 style firing system, which means there's no firing pin block safety. This would mean carrying hammer down/decocked is dangerous, since hitting the hammer could cause it to strike the firing pin and fire a round unintentionally. And there's no advantage to carrying hammer down. You have to cock it to fire it, which is undoubtedly going to take more time than flicking a safety off if you were carrying cocked and locked.

In my opinion, the only kind of gun a decocker belongs on is a DA/SA semi auto gun (be it a hammer fired one, or a striker one like the P99). Even with a DA/SA, some might prefer a safety over a decocker (I'm not one of them).

The HK in the Upper Left of this picture is an HK .45 Match. My son Mike bought it many years ago brand new in the box for $600.00. I really enjoy shooting it. It is NOT a parts gun but an original Match.

At that price range I would think a Sig would be the top choice.
