serbu super shorty
i am fascinated by this weapon, does anyone own one who can give some feedback on it?
and also, it is considered an AOW ($5 stamp) does this require the same paperwork as a classIII? thanksGo head, skin it. Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens.

it's an AOW... $5 tax stamp.
I'm sure Jay will be along shorly to comment more on it as I know he has had one in the past if he still doesn't have it (which I bet he does).

We have one. It's a blast to shoot and will make you want to carry it everywhere once you shoot it. You can't hit squat with it beyond 8 yards, but it's very menacing. It's also extremely loud, so wear some plugs!

Re: serbu super shorty
I noticed most of the ones on gunbroker are ~$700. Anyone ever thought of trying to make one from their rem 870 with a Form 1?
You can pick up a used 870 Express for under $200. With the work needed and the tax stamp, it seems it might be possible to come in under the $700 mark.
I am not a gunsmith, what are your thoughts?

Re: serbu super shorty
The biggest obstacle would be to cut down the magazine tube and to remount the barrel lug. I have a 12.5" SBS 870, and I cut it right at the lug.
If you had access to a lathe, it would be simple, if you know how to do it.

Re: serbu super shorty
since an sbr can have a stock and a VFG i would assume an sbs would as well. so is the AOW paperwork the same as class 3? the reason i ask is b/c in philly it is impossible to get the paperwork signed so i would have to look into other ways to obtian them such as a trust or corp. thanks.

Re: serbu super shorty
several thread on this forum about this AOW...and yes, i own one, its probably the most fun shotgun type weapon I own.
dont be duped by someone saying you can hit anything with it, I can get slugs on target on a human sillouette at 100 yds.
takes some practice to aim and hit with this at longer distances
