Default I'm not afraid to admit it

I've developed a flinch while shooting pistols. My hand gun skills have gone downhill as of lately and I need to correct it ASAP so my shots stop going way high right (I am a left handed shooter). My grip is good, stance is good and trigger pull is good. Not going to say great for any of them, but I am using a high thumbs forward grip and a weaver or isosceles stance.

I used to be very good with a DAO 38 snubbie. Then after moving onto a striker fired carry gun with more capacity, my DAO revolver skills diminished. I used to be good with a Glock, but now I send them consistently high right. I know my problem is a flinch because when doing snap cap drills it's easy to tell. I jerk as soon as the trigger breaks! The only guns I don't suck with right now are revolvers or hammer fired guns in SA.

My plan is to get back to basics and relax with a 22LR pistol and a 4" GP100 using 38 specials in SA (basically .22LR recoil...). My plan is to also dry fire a lot because I think that is the most recommended prescription for curing a flinch. However my issue with dry firing is that when I do it, I am 100% steady because I consciously/subconsciously know a round isn't coming. Is it just conditioning myself to so many dry fires that it doesn't matter I'm only steady because I know a round won't go off?

    Any other tips?

When at the range load up with staggered dummy rounds. Yes, you know you are flinching but it could help your concentration. Take note of your breathing also.

You should try only thinking about and seeing your front sight. All of you. Your whole being on that front sight. No trigger pull, no grip, not the target, only the front sight. Live there. Spend time thinking about it when your not shooting.

Just shoot. Run a few mags or cylinders just shooting

    Amen.
Just try aiming without pulling the trigger. then Dry firing with snapcaps.
