I was an idiot
I was a moron 15 yrs ago and got 3 dui's in a 5 yr period. I know that i am not eligible to get a carry permit. BUT with the timeframe is there any way i could expunge my record and possibly get a permit? I know i made bad decisions and am fine with paying for those stupid decisions. But now as a family man i am becoming concerned for my family, and since my wife is licensed, i am concerned/curious about a few things. If i were in a situation as the only one awake or available to access said handgun during a home invasion, and i NEEDED to fire at said intruder, would i or my wife be charged with an illegal firearms use charge? I am just curious/concerned about being able to protect my family and not get my wife in trouble. And also would like to be able to protect myself, family, anyone, should the situation arise where it is needed. I understand i may never have that right, but also dont want to be shy about protecting my family and household.

IANAL, but you don't need a license to carry to purchase, own, or fire a gun in your own house.
That said, be careful! Where you may get hung up is the 3 DUI's: it may be the case that you can't purchase or even possess a firearm, not on the street, not even in your house. It's all depending on the severity (b.a.c.'s) and sentences of your DUI's.
As noted above, consult a lawyer with expertise in gun law. We have at least three or four names floating around on this forum whom many here would recommend. I would suggest you get an answer on possession at a minimum, otherwise your wife might be breaking the law too, just by allowing you access to a firearm.Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God.

1). Change your thread title to eliminate profanity before a MOD sees it.
2). Get a lawyer.

Lawyer up...without a doubt you will get a lot of bad advice from a gun forum.

In a true life-threatening emergency, I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Beyond that, any hope for full rights restoration requires the services of an experienced, for-profit legal beagle.

Re: I was a dumbass
I guess it all depends on the BAC of your priors, and what you actually were convicted of. A quick glance at the sentencing guidelines would seem to indicate that you are prohibited from gun ownership not just a LTCF. If that is the case a pardon seems your only option. Which means not just lawyer, but very good lawyer in such matters.
If you are indeed prohibited you cannot touch a firearm, much less shoot one, and your wife or any other person in your household has to store or be in control of all firearms, so you cannot gain control of them at any time. Your only lawful option without a pardon would be some other means not involving a firearm, and in Pa IIRC includes black powder.
Talk to a good attorney.
