Default Go ahead, say I told you so

Well, I did it. Contrary to some of the advice I received, I bought a new Taurus 24/7C in 9mm. Seems like a nice gun, I only shot 50 rounds so far. The only issue is they all hit left about 6 inches at 15 yards.

It came with an allen wrench for adjusting the rear sight, so I figured no biggie. I got home, tried the allen wrench and stripped it. Again, I figured no biggie, just a cheap allen wrench, I'll try the one in the toolbox - stripped it. I was getting worried, and figured I'd just go to the hardware store an buy a high quality set of wrenches, did it, and stripped it too.
Now I'm getting creative. I took the original wrench, used a dremel to cut off the rounded ends, heated it and quenched it to harden it. This let me apply substantial torque, until the wrench snapped.

What to do?? I'm afraid to get any more aggressive because I don't want to damage the gun. I can't have it shooting left all the time, can I just take it back to the shop? Can I just take it to a different, closer, shop and ask them to fix it?

    Return it. Product is defective.

Or, unless I'm mistaken, Taurus offers a lifetime warranty on ALL their products.

You may have to ship it to the ass of the world, and it may take forever to get back, but I think the option is there.

Maybe let someone else shoot it first? See if it's you or the gun. The different trigger pull might be throwing your aim off.

a lot of customers complained about Taurus sights falling off, more than likely Taurus put a strong loctite on it.

Remove the slide and put it in the oven for about 30 min at about 300 deg should looosen nice and easy. no prob , better than to send it on vacation to Miami for 6-8 weeks

    Have you done this??

I just see some potential issues with heat treatment/ re-tempering...and any plastic parts in the slide getting messed with. I could see that action voiding a warranty..... This is new to me, but I'm a little apprehensive about doing something like that.

EDIT: any bets on how many more posts it'll take before someone writes in with "just get a glock!"?

Thats one helluva screw if it damages the tools before it strips. If the allen head screw is still not damaged I am impressed. The sight is removable without loosening the allen head screw correct? Thus, worse case scenario is just replacing the entire sight.
