Glock 19 mods
I just bought my first glock, a 19, that I plan to carry everyday. I know a lot of people say to get the frame plug because the rim of the top round can get stuck in there on a reload. Also a lot of people recommend the ghost 3.5# connector. Anybody have any other "mods" I can do to make it a better gun?
This is my first glock.

Re: Glock 19 mods
First thing I recommend is replacing the sights with something better. I like warren tactical sights, the set thatbhas a tritium front sight and all black rear sight. Then shoot the hell out of it. If you want a lighter trigger pull, we'll tell you what to get. Remember the trigger pull will smooth out the more you shoot it.

No mods will make it more reliable if that's what you mean by better. Only mod I recommend is sights and plenty of ammo.

Re: Glock 19 mods
The grip plug is complete BS there is a whole there for a reason and that's to aid in extracting the magazine if there were to be a jam or malfunction save your $10.00 and buy another box of ammunition. Sights are a must for 3 dot system I don't think there are a better set made then the TruGlo TFX and I currently own and have owned a lot of the big named popular ones. My other recommendation would be XSbig dots for any self defense pistol.

Re: Glock 19 mods
Sights are the first thing to get changed on my Glocks. There are plenty out there, so pick what you think will work for you. I like tritium fronts with a highly visible orange or green outline to draw your eye to it in daylight. The rear can be black or tritium, one or two dots.
With the shorter grip of the G19/23, the stock mag base plate pinches the bottom of my hand during fast mag insertions. Vickers base plates fixed that. They're less than $20 for five.
If you use the slide stop during reloads, an extended slide stop is helpful. Also less than $20 & takes about five minutes to install.
I let the triggers alone. Glock triggers are mushy, but they work fine & you get used to them after a while.Last edited by IronButt; September 22nd, 2015 at 08:20 AM.

Re: Glock 19 mods
i run trijicon hd sights on all my glocks. they are more expensive then most but i have had great luck with them. Front sight is crazy bright, blacked out rear with small tritium inserts in both.
i also run 3.5 ghost connector in my carry g19.
sights are a must in my opinion.

Re: Glock 19 mods
Here are the mods that most of my customers do to their Glocks:
XS Big Dot sights (The tritium ones are very popular)
Extended Slide release
Extended mag release
3.5 lb connector
I really like the Big Dot sights on my Glock, very easy to get on target with them.
Many like the grip plug for the aesthetics (makes it look better IMO) but Glock did leave it open for a variety of reasons. YMMV.
If you anticipate running it hard some people like to change out the polymer guide rod with a stainless steel version. I have yet to see an average shooter need a different rod, but to each his own.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Re: Glock 19 mods
I like the G17 trigger in a 19 instead of the ribbed for her pleasure one, but that is just me. That's an easy mod too.
