Re: AR47 Build on GWACS Armory CAV-15 MKII Lower
I think the standard ak thread is 14:1? can't remember you can always try to take the device of a 47 and see if it fits

Standard AK threads are 14x1 LH, the .30 cal AR barrels are going to be 5/8x24 for the threading.

Re: AR47 Build on GWACS Armory CAV-15 MKII Lower
Gotcha.
I'm finding some more stuff as I poke around and I'm learning more from the info tossed out in this thread so it's helping narrow some things down.
Initially I thought a muzzle device that was visually recognizable as "Russian" would be a cool "tie-in" to the caliber being used - something "different" than a typical AR15-looking muzzle device.
I considered an Ak74 brake for a split second, but the added length is a turnoff regardless of how effective it may be.
The Manticore Arms Nightbrake looks like a reasonable candidate.
It seems to work OK, the size is acceptable (not too big) and the price is around $50 (I think)
This is a decent "review". I can't find any vids of one on an AR chambered in 7.62x39

the 74 break is huge! I didn't realize just how big until I picked up a 74.

CNC Warrior makes very good products at an affordable price. I have several of their 74 style brakes on my AK's and they work and look great.
Here are their .30 offerings.

Re: AR47 Build on GWACS Armory CAV-15 MKII Lower
I'll look into it.
I'm not opposed to spending more when the "more" includes more performance.
I would prefer to stay around $50/$60 max, but if a product has the right combo of effectiveness and appearance, I may consider it.
I have no regrets on spending over $100 ($110?) on my PWS CQB comp - none at all - it was money well spent.
I just don't think I NEED to spend that much on this particular device.
Speaking of, PWS has a unit for $100 as well.

You want an effective FH for around 50.00, none better than a Vortex. I use one on my 10" SCAR, no flash detected.

Re: AR47 Build on GWACS Armory CAV-15 MKII Lower
Not as concerned with flash on this rifle - I would lean more towards effective compensating/braking for keeping it on target and recoil reduction - the latter being less of a concern.
I know that in the price range I'm looking at, nothing will be good at "everything", but it seems the ones I've noted are acceptable and provide a little of each feature.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: AR47 Build on GWACS Armory CAV-15 MKII Lower
If your main concern is recoil mitigation then check out the Surefire Procomp 7.62. I have the 5.56 version on a 18" SPR build and it's excellent and very affordable.

Another good offering from strike industries.
