This would be why some have had success in filing down the shoulder a hair (red area in image) which allows the pin to protrude through more.

I would need something that can measure all of the aspects of the pin to truly know what is different.

All I really care about is that it works - and it does now, so I'm happy.

I think I mentioned that I mucked up the adjustment on the gas block. Well, I got it adjusted today and it's shooting well.
    Yay!
Yes the shoulder being thinner is what helps, but also the particular firing pin you have is definitely turned down more (roughly too from the tool marks) at the tip. The firing pin hole size in the bolt face matters too. The "flange" on the firing pin tip being further down will also allow a deeper primer strike IF the rest of the bolt dimensions don't retard the firing pin. I'm sure you've seen companies that say their bolt doesn't need an enhanced firing pin at all. Those companies opened up the hole and shaved the bolt tail a hair. Depending on where Apoc sources their bolts, the tail may have been shaved, but the hole not opened up, hence the cheaper and easier method of turning down just the tip of the FP.

With the picture playing with my eyes, only way to tell length differences is to just use a micrometer or calipers.

Turning down the shoulder of the firing pin is easier than turning the tail of the bolt....bolts are harder than woodpecker lips.

There is also a fine line of removing too much form either part. Pierced primers are not what you are looking for.

I don't think so. I've heard odd, electronic "chirps" in other video clips before. Not sure what causes it.

"Brass" was headed in that direction though!
