    Default Inexpensive 308 cal AR15?

I am planning to purchase an AR15 in 308 caliber within the next year. I had a Stag a few years ago in 223 but I really want one in 308. I will mostly be target practicing with it, but it will occasionally be with me in the woods. It will also serve as a home defense rifle, so I would like a rail for a light. Is there anything decent in the $700 range? I don't have a problem purchasing a used one, but would prefer new if it all worked out.

    Thanks, Isaac

In truth........................................no. Nothing decent in the 700 range off the shelf for a whole rifle IMO. Nothing off the shelf at all in AR10 for 700 out the door. Maybe 850 to 900 bucks after taxes and transfer. It would be a base gun period.

You are also confusing the platforms. AR15 is a smaller frame for 223/6.8SPC/6.5Grendel/300Blackout. The larger frame is an AR large frame...IE 243/260/6.5CM/308.

Put one together with PSA as they offer 308 uppers/lowers.

Maybe you should look into a FN FAL?

I appreciate the information as I do not have too much experience with the AR's.

What do you use for home defense? I bet if you tried sneaking in to my house you wouldn't survive a shot in the chest with a 308. Keep laughing if yo think you would.

.308 - for when baddies are breaking into your neighbor's house 700 yards away.

Haha. I can't help myself. No offense meant. Just joking.
