    Default Delco renewal times

I don't want to go too early but I don't want to miss the boat either. How long are LTCF renewals taking in Delaware county? Thanks.

I recently renewed (within the past couple months). On day 41 (IIRC) I still hadn't gotten notice of approval/denial, my last renewal the notice came around 3 weeks. I tried to call but they would not give any info over the phone so I went in to the sheriffs office in person and my LTCF was there, and had been for a couple weeks.

So I'm going to say in real time the renewals are taking about 3 weeks. The prior renewal took about 3 weeks too.

Last time I got notice that I could renew AFTER I had already applied, this time I got that notice about 70 days before my expiration. I renewed 60 days before my expiration both times.

I personally wouldn't wait, DELCO will take renewal apps up to 60 day prior to
expiration, and they still say they have 45 working days to make the decision.

Thanks guys, one final question if you would. If I am stopped with a CC gun and my permit expired 3 weeks before, what will happen? This is assuming that I have an application in progress and would be approved.

Most likely arrested. Unless the cop makes a call to the sheriff's office,
which I highly doubt would happen.

You could be arrested, however the following would be a defense to use in court: (the link is the full law)

    http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/LI/consCheck.cfm?txtType=HTM&ttl=18&div=0&chpt=61&sct n=6&subsctn=0

    (12) A person who has a lawfully issued license to carry a firearm pursuant to section 6109 (relating to licenses) and that said license expired within six months prior to the date of arrest and that the individual is otherwise eligible for renewal of the license.

OK, so I went out on Feb 03. Paid, submitted form, got pic taken. This took less than 15 minutes. The long wait begins. Well, no. On Feb 16 I got a letter dated 13 Feb saying I was approved and permit could be picked up. So I did on 28 Feb and my new exp date is now 13 Feb 2022. You never know...

Thanks, I knew there was a grace period. Just wasn't sure how long it was.
