Medical Questionnaire Asks About Guns
I never thought I'd see it for myself although I've seen it mentioned on these forums. I got a medical questionnaire from a potential doctor that asks "Do you own a gun and, if so, do your children have access to them."
1. What business is it of theirs whether or not I have a gun in the house?
2. What kind of idiot do they assume I am if I allow my kids unauthorized access to my firearms?
If I actually go to this doctor, I'm answering "NO" on the questionnaire but am offended they even asked me in the first place feel my integrity is compromised if I actually see this doctor.
The form is from Temple University Health System.

Dont answer it, its none of his business. I got one of those when I took my kid to the dr.
I started filling it out, then came the question. Right in the trash it went. They never asked me for it
when I left.

Re: Medical Questionnaire Asks About Guns
These are government mandated questions so feel free to ignore them and put no or N/A like we have been doing for years. It's no different then the 12 different hospital nurses asking me if "I felt safe at home" over the course of the week I spent in there last November. After the 3rd or 4th time in the 1st day or so I looked at the nurse and said I am 6' 3" 230lbs and sleeved in tattoos, So Yes I am very scared to go into my home.

I haven't received a questionnaire like that myself yet but I would answer "no." Sure it's a lie, but not answering would be assumed a "yes."

Re: Medical Questionnaire Asks About Guns
I got asked for the first time last year when I went for my annual check up. Of course to me the guns question is about as relevant as the question before it - "do you wear a seat belt when you drive". I replied "only when I drive. If I'm the passenger then NO". The nurse didn't laugh. I tried

Re: Medical Questionnaire Asks About Guns
Perhaps it is government-mandated... OTOH, I've never been asked that on any form from any doctor I've been to. I'd not like it were I asked, but rather than make it an issue I'd likely answer with the equivocal "N/A" if it was asked, and let them assume that meant "no"...
