PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police say an armed home intruder impersonating a police officer was shot and killed by a Mayfair resident Sunday night.
Authorities say the shooting happened on the 7200 block of Battersby Street just after 10 p.m.
The other suspect ran out and authorities are looking for him, according to police.
Scott says six shell casings were found on the steps to the apartment.

FOX 29's Steve Kelley spoke to the man who fatally shot one of the intruders, and he's encouraging everyone who legally can own a gun to purchase one to protect themselves in Philadelphia as crime surges.

"I pulled out and shot right at him and that's it," he said as he described the moments of shock and fear he experienced.

The 25-year-old and his girlfriend, who was upstairs in the second-floor apartment at the time of the shooting, were released by police.

A man shot and killed two armed teenagers who tried to rob him in Norristown, Pennsylvania, investigators said.

The man was walking to his car shortly before 8 p.m. Friday along the 300 block of Warren Street when two 17-year-old boys approached him, according to police. The teens then tried to rob the man and pulled a gun on him leading to a struggle, investigators said.

The man then pulled out his own legally registered gun and opened fire, according to police. One teen was shot five times while the second teen was shot once in the torso and once in the finger.

“ Dwayne Patrick was driving by and saw the dog attack. He says he took his legally owned gun, which is licensed, and shot the attacking animal.”

Legally owned and licensed.... i wish they’d stop referring to legally owned firearms as “licensed” and “registered”

    Zombie kill.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. along the 2200 block of S. 6th Street near W. Moyamensing Avenue.

Investigators said a 24-year-old man was smoking a cigarette in front of his house when another man on a bicycle approached him with a gun and announced a robbery.

Police said the 24-year-old pulled out his own handgun and fired one shot as the other man was stepping off of the bicycle.

Arriving officers found the bicyclist on the sidewalk with a single gunshot wound to the head.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A woman in West Virginia fatally shot a man who began firing an AR-15-style rifle into a crowd of people that had gathered for a party, authorities said. Dennis Butler, 37, was killed Wednesday night after he pulled out the rifle and began shooting at dozens of people attending the birthday-graduation party outside an apartment complex in the city of Charleston, police said in a statement. The woman, who was attending the party, drew a pistol and fired, killing Butler, the statement said. No one at the party was injured.

The usual tale, but pull quote for the pure comedy value -
Shortly after the home invasion, a call came in about a man shot in the head. That man has not been identified as a suspect yet. Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons said his deputies went to interview him.

*The stories that he*s giving us*as to how he got shot in the head are inconsistent at best,* said Simmons. *In short, we don*t believe him. So what we*re looking at is to determine if this is the third person involved.*
