A Chicago auto parts store manager shot and killed a would-be robber Saturday after the suspect flashed a gun, according to police. A man between 30 and 40 years old reportedly entered an O'Reilly Auto Parts store in Calumet Heights, took out a firearm and demanded money from the register, police said. The store manager, whose name has not yet been disclosed, pulled out his own firearm and fired shots at the robber. Police said the manager is a valid FOID cardholder. The would-be robber was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries, police said.

I taught my daughters in law to start shooting at the dick because hitting a hip should disable the bad guy pretty quick, and the follow up shot would be closer to center of mass.

PHILADELPHIA - A woman fought back to defend herself, and her home, when police say they became the target of three robbery suspects early Sunday morning.
Officers arrived to find two men with gunshot wounds on the 4900 block of Germantown Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Both were shot by the female homeowner when she trued to stop them from entering her home, according to authorities. A third suspect was also shot during the attempted robbery, but was able to flee on foot.

    Video in link

This is the moment a Queens man shot dead a mugger who appeared to threaten him during a botched robbery this week.
Surveillance footage obtained by The Post shows Charles Foehner, 65, being confronted by the 32-year-old man at around 2 a.m. Wednesday outside a parking garage on 82nd Avenue near Queens Boulevard in Kew Gardens.
The would-be robber, identified by police sources as Cody Gonzalez, can be seen cutting off Foehner, who was smoking a cigarette while on his way home.

The slain robber * who had at least 15 arrests dating back to 2004 and a record of mental illness * died in the street, where a gun was recovered, cops said. They also found a pen in his right hand, which Foehner said he believed had been a knife, according to the sources.
