DURBAN - PHOENIX crime fighter Gareth Naidoo could be discharged from hospital on Monday after being stabbed four times in his hand when he responded to a theft in progress at a client*s home.

Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said the homeowner was inside his house when he noticed a man removing water pipes.

Gwala said the owner called his security company.

When the security officer approached the man, he was stabbed multiple times.

Gwala said Naidoo managed to draw his firearm and shoot his attacker. He was shot dead, and a knife was found on him.

Naidoo, 27, is the operations manager at private security company, KZN VIP Unit. His father, Glen Naidoo, said the KZN VIP command centre had received a telephone call from a client on Sunford Drive who reported a suspected thief on the property on Friday.

*Gareth had taken an ambulance for a vehicle inspection nearby. In the meantime, a second call comes from the client saying there was an armed intruder on the property who could be stealing copper pipes. More vehicles were dispatched to back up the first vehicle.

*Gareth saw the message and decided to assist and went to the address. When Gareth entered the property and conducted a search, he was confronted by the intruder,* Glen Naidoo said.

*The intruder attacked Gareth with a knife and stabbed him several times in his left hand. My son shielded himself from possible fatal blows.

*Armed with his pistol Gareth shot the intruder dead. We would like to thank all the well-wishers for their prayers and support,* Glen Naidoo said.

Phoenix police are investigating a case of attempted murder and theft.

Reacting to the news on Facebook, Myron Prince said: *Thousands more criminals to meet their maker. Can you imagine if we did not have security companies and armed response units? Our police force can*t even deal with crime as it stands now and they want to disarm law-abiding citizens who have a right to defend themselves.*

Mashooda Hoosen said: *Well done. Past few weeks these men have been busy stealing from our yards in the Caneside area.

Wasilla Home Invader Shot by Female Homeowner
    Alaska Native NewsJun 7, 2021
Trooper responded to a residence on Fairview Loop in Wasilla after receiving a call reporting that a home invader had been shot at that location.

When troopers arrived, their investigation would determine that a 66-year-old male had made a forced entry into the residence with an ax and had also threatened to kill the 55-year-old female homeowner. But, the homeowner brought the home invasion to a halt when she shot and wounded the invader.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital by EMS and underwent surgery for non-life-threatening injuries.

“The Palmer District Attorney’s Office was contacted, and no charges will be filed on the homeowner,” AST reported.

The invader remains hospitalized as the investigation into the incident continues. Charges of Burglary and Assault are most likely.

Arlington homeowner fatally shoots man knocking at door

    The Associated Press

ARLINGTON, Wash. (AP) — An Arlington homeowner shot and killed a man he said knocked on his door at 4 a.m. and refused to leave, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. Steve McDonald said the man and his wife were sleeping in their home when they heard knocking on their back door. The homeowner reportedly found a “suspicious man” knocking and refusing to leave.

He reportedly told the man he had a gun but the man still wouldn’t leave, KCPQ reported. It’s unclear whether there was an altercation that followed, but the homeowner ended up shooting the man twice. Investigators said it wasn’t a home invasion.

The homeowner is cooperating with the investigation. Deputies don’t know whether he will be charged. It doesn’t appear the homeowner knew the man.

The Everett Police Department has taken over the investigation of this shooting, at the request of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. That’s because the person killed is a family member of a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office employee.

pizza delivery driver had *extensive criminal history*
Man shot and killed by Glynn County pizza delivery driver had *extensive criminal history*
BRUNSWICK, Ga. * Glynn County Interim Police Chief Rickey Evans said Monday that the man shot and killed by a Papa John*s delivery driver on Saturday night had *an extensive criminal history.*

Police identify the man killed as Jeremy Hicks, 37. According to the Georgia Department of Corrections, Hicks was released two years ago after serving 15 years on a conviction for armed robbery.

The driver told police that the man ordered a pizza delivered about 11 p.m. Saturday, but when he got to the address, which turned out to be a vacant mobile home, the man pulled a knife on him. The driver, who police have not named, said he pulled his gun and shot the man in self-defense. Hicks died at the scene.

Ernest Bradham, the owner of the property, told News4Jax that no one lives there and it*s being renovated. He said he lives close by and the gunshot woke him up.

*My wife came about 10 minutes later and said get up and look at all these lights at the trailer,* he recounted. *So I got up and police cars are all down the road.*

When asked if he knew Hicks, Bradham said: *I wouldn*t know him right now if you showed me a photo and asked if I knew him. I don*t know the guy.*

Evans said the driver and the attempted robbery did not know each other and that no charges have been filed against the driver, who has no criminal record. He added that police are still investigating and would like anyone who knows anything about what happened to contact them at 912-554-3645.

*This is a case that we will take a little time to get all of the facts we are working on,* Evans said.

Evans said there have not been any other recent robberies in the area of Saturday night*s shooting.

News4Jax crime and safety expert Ken Jefferson said delivery drivers sometimes make easy targets for robberies.

*They*re in and out of communities very fast and it*s easy to fake a delivery call,* Jefferson said.

News4Jax has reached out to Papa John*s corporate office regarding the shooting and is awaiting a formal response.

Caped man encounters armed homeowner, arrested on suspicion of burglary in Amador County
    By Rachel AbabioJune 08, 2021 11:39 AM

A Stockton man was arrested Monday after deputies said he walked into an Amador County home and tried to steal items from the garage.

The incident happened just before 9 p.m. at the home on New York Ranch Road north of Jackson. The homeowner, who is wheelchair-bound, called authorities after seeing the unknown man enter the home and begin *acting erratically,* Amador County sheriff*s deputies said in a social media post.

The homeowner described the man to dispatchers as 40 years old, wearing a red cape and black pants. The homeowner, who was armed with a handgun, told dispatchers he persuaded the intruder to leave.

Upon arrival, deputies said they found Erik Willden of Stockton *stealing items from within the homeowner*s detached garage.* He also told deputies he had smoked methamphetamine in the hours before his arrest.

Willden, 42, was booked at Amador County Jail on suspicion of burglary and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Mount Oliver Police: Intruder shot attempting to enter apartment
    PITTSBURGH —
Mount Oliver police said one person was shot after trying to enter an apartment on Ormsby Avenue Tuesday. According to police, the person who shot the intruder has been taken into custody, but no charges have been filed at this point.

Allegheny County Police said first responders learned that a 21-year-old male intruder was shot in the leg before taking flight in a vehicle.

They said the intruder’s vehicle was detained in the 2100 block of Watson Street by officers with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police. The intruder was transported by ambulance to an area hospital and is currently in fair condition.

Detectives said they determined that a 19-year-old female resident was confronted by the intruder after the intruder damaged her parked vehicle. The intruder was the female’s former intimate partner. According to police, following this, the intruder entered the female’s secure apartment building and attempted to make entry through the threshold of her apartment when the intruder was shot by the female’s 21-year-old male houseguest.

The female resident and her houseguest called 9-1-1 to report the incident and are cooperating with police.

Jury finds man not guilty of attempted murder and assault in Cottage Grove
Lane County Circuit Court building in Eugene.
A man was found not guilty by a jury Monday of attempted murder and assault with a firearm, stemming from a shooting in Cottage Grove last August.

Boudie Lancaster, 44, is now cleared of his four counts of second-degree attempted murder and three counts of assault with a firearm in the case handled in Lane County Circuit Court.

Deputies from Lane and Douglas counties responded at about 1:40 a.m., Aug. 3, to a report of a shooting in the 72900 block of London Road south of Cottage Grove. Detectives found three people with gunshot wounds, and after investigating, arrested Lancaster on suspicion of the crime.

Court documents alleged Lancaster shot two of the three people involved and caused injury to the third person by firing the gun, resulting in *shrapnel wounds.*

Lancaster's lawyer, Jennifer Lang Perkins, said the shooting was done in self defense and said the verdict was "absolutely the right outcome."

Lancaster was visiting Lane County from out-of-state, she said, helping his father on a rural homestead. One night Lancaster found three people taking items from the property, Lang Perkins said, loading the items into a truck, when one man allegedly pulled a gun on Lancaster.

Lancaster got a shot off first, his attorney said, firing multiple rounds as he ran for cover. She said her client was acting in self defense did not intend to kill anyone, a requisite for attempted murder.

Lane County District Attorney Patricia Perlow said her office believes there was proof beyond a reasonable doubt that Lancaster had committed the crimes and holding a trial was the right thing to do.

"Detectives did a fantastic job investigating this case and one of my very best lawyers tried it to the jury," Perlow said. "We don*t get to know what the jury found significant in their deliberations, but they returned a verdict of not guilty. The case went to trial because it was challenging. The easy ones rarely do."

Editor's note: This story has been updated to reflect that Lancaster was found not guilty on four counts of second-degree attempted murder and three counts of assault with a firearm.

Homeowner shoots, kills tenant who kicked in his door in southeast Houston, police say
HOUSTON * Houston police said they are questioning a homeowner accused of shooting and killing a former tenant in southeast Houston Tuesday. That homeowner told officers the man kicked in the front door of his home.

Police said the incident happened around 10:45 p.m. at 6023 Glenhurst Dr.

According to officers, the homeowner is a 72-year-old man who uses a wheelchair and the man he shot was his former tenant.

Investigators said the 72-year-old homeowner was renting out one of his rooms to another man and claims that his former tenant stopped paying rent for quite some time, so he told the tenant to leave and not come back. Authorities said the tenant left but eventually came back, and chaos erupted.

*Evidently our deceased individual kicked the door in, got inside. They had some kind of altercation. The older man shot the younger one, the homeowner shot the guy who was kicking in the door, and homicide is there trying to figure out what exactly occurred,* Officer R. Willkens with the Houston Police Department said.

Detectives said the homeowner is cooperating and no charges have been filed.

No charges will be filed against Omaha son who shot his dad twice
No charges will be filed against a 19-year-old Omaha man who said he shot his father because the father had attacked the 19-year-old's mother.

Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine said Wednesday that after reviewing the evidence, he determined that Malik T. Williams was justified in firing shots Sunday morning outside his family home.

    Williams
His father, 46-year-old Lonnie C. Williams, was shot in the neck and groin, according to Omaha police reports.

Kleine said Malik Williams was in fear for his life and the shooting would be justified under the state law of self-defense.

Malik Williams called 911 after the shooting, which occurred about 12:01 a.m. Sunday outside a home near 96th and L Streets. He told a dispatcher that "he had shot his father after his father attacked his mother," according to a police report.

19-year-old Omahan said he shot his father because he had attacked his mother

Malik Williams was standing in the street outside the home, waving police officers down, reports said. Lonnie Williams was lying on the front porch with two gunshot wounds.

Both Lonnie and Malik Williams lived in the home, the police report said.

Malik Williams told investigators he shot his dad with a .22-caliber long rifle. He was booked into jail Sunday morning on suspicion of first-degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony. He posted bail and was released less than 24 hours later.
