Homeowner Defends Residence With Gun; Intruder Arrested

A homeowner held an unknown intruder at gunpoint until Summerville Police arrived to make an arrest around 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, according to police reports.

Phillip Jennings, of Cleghorn Street, was inside his home when an intoxicated stranger suddenly appeared inside.

“Upon arrival, Mr. Jennings advised that he held the male subject at gunpoint and ordered him to leave the residence. He stated that the male subject walked out of the house but stayed in the yard around the front porch and was speaking out of his head,” Officer Jo Stricklin stated.

Cops identified the alleged intruder as 56-year-old Charles Turner Jr., of 299 Scoggins Street, in Summerville.

“When asked what was going on, Mr. Turner stated that they (pointing as if someone was with him) wanted to come to the residence and that he knew the person that lived there,” Officer Stricklin said. “I advised Mr. Turner that he could not just enter people’s residence and that he could have been shot by the homeowner. Mr. Turner began speaking to his imaginary accomplices again. At that point, Mr. Turner was placed under arrested for public intoxication and loitering and prowling.”

Detroit Fatal Shooting at Hayes and Fordham deemed Justified

DETROIT, MI – Today the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has denied a warrant request for a 37-year-old Detroit woman suspected in the fatal shooting of Angela McDuell, 48-years-old, of Clinton Township. shooting-investigation

The suspect and Ms. McDuell knew each other and were previously in a relationship. On April 22nd, 2019 at, 7:15 p.m., Ms. McDuell, the suspect and a female friend were outside of a liquor store at Hayes and Fordham in Detroit. All three women engaged in a verbal argument in the parking lot of the store. During the argument, Ms. McDuell pepper sprayed the suspect. The suspect, a licensed CPL holder, went to her car and retrieved a handgun.

The verbal argument appeared to end, and Ms. McDuell walked back to her car. Shortly thereafter, Ms. McDuell got into her car and twice drove it in reverse at a high rate of speed toward the suspect and her friend as they tried to get away. When Ms. McDuell drove at them for third time, almost pinning them against a wall with her car, the suspect fired one shot, fatally wounding Ms. McDuell.

Under Michigan law, in order to use deadly force in self-defense, a person must have an honest and reasonable belief that she is danger of being killed or seriously injured. The law also provides that if the person has an honest and reasonable belief that another person is danger of being killed or seriously injured, there is right to use deadly force in lawful self-defense of another.

Witness interviews and video evidence of the incident were thoroughly reviewed. The evidence in this case shows that Ms. McDuell drove her car at the suspect and her friend at a high rate of speed multiple times. The suspect did not point the gun at Ms. McDuell prior to the shooting and did not fire a shot until the third time that the car sped toward the suspect and her friend, nearly pinning them to the wall.

It was reasonable for the suspect to assume that being struck by the car or pinned against the wall would cause death or serious injury. The facts of this case clearly show that it was reasonable for the suspect to use deadly force to defend herself and her friend. The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office finds that the shooting was justified and the warrant request has been denied.

Woman Who Shot a Man on The Sierra Street Bridge Was Acting in Self-Defense
    Posted on May 3, 2019
The killing of 29 year old Josue Oconitrillo April 20th appears to be a case of self defense. Reno Police say two women walking on the Sierra Street Bridge fought Oconitrillo after one of them was sexually attacked. One of the women pulled a gun from her purse to get him to stop, when he didn’t, she shot him once.

The shooter, who was drunk at the time, was arrested, but later released when the shooting was found to be justified. Ocanitrillo died in a hospital a week after the shooting. The woman who fired the fatal shot will be arraigned later this month for being intoxicated in possession of a firearm.

Man who shot and killed stepson did it to defend his wife, police say
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- New details have emerged in the case of a man shooting and killing his stepson in Central Fresno.

According to a police report, 42-year-old Elden Baker became enraged Thursday night and started slamming his face and head into the refrigerator.

RELATED: Fresno man shoots and kills stepson, neighbors say he's an ex-law enforcement officer
The report says Baker then turned his anger towards his mom and began assaulting her while forcing her to the floor. Officers say the mom has a medical condition which could become life-threatening if attacked in such a manner.

Police say that's when 62-year-old Steven Perry, Baker's stepdad, attempted to 'physically' protect his wife. After that didn't work, Perry took out a gun and shot Baker ultimately killing him.

Investigators say both Perry and Baker's mother sustained visible injuries in the altercation.

Police say the case has not yet been determined to be self-defense and is still being investigated as a homicide.

Perry is a former reserve police officer for an out of county agency and has been released from police custody with no charges filed against him at this time.

Altamonte Springs homeowner shoots at burglars, search underway for suspects
    SANFORD, Fla. —
A large law enforcement search is underway in Sanford for a group of people that may be connected to a burglary in Altamonte Springs.

Officials with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said it all started with a report of shots fired on Virginia Avenue in the Altamonte Springs area.

When deputies arrived they found evidence of a residential burglary that a homeowner walked in on while it was in progress.

Authorities said one of the burglars had a gun, causing the homeowner to reach for his own gun and fire a shot.

Deputies said the alleged burglars fled and ditched their vehicle in the area of State Road 46 and International Parkway in Sanford.

Two people were taken into custody, but deputies said search efforts for a third person are ongoing.

Dog bites man, man shoots dog
Sunday, May 5, 2019 Manchester NH Police Department News 0

    File photo
MANCHESTER, NH — Just after 1 p.m. on May 5 officers responded to a 911 call at 180 Bowman St. reporting that a neighbor was attacked and bitten by a loose pit bull.

The dog-bite victim, a 67-year-old man, told officers he had just exited his house to take his small dog for a walk and was headed south on Bowman Street when he noticed a large aggressive dog running toward him from a Bowman Street residence. The man said the pit bull was trying to get at his smaller dog and the man was trying to keep the pit bull away, which is when he sustained a dog bite to his right arm.

Police say the man was pulled to the ground by the pit bull, which eventually let go of his arm. The ma was trying to gather himself and got back on his feet to walk away, when he told police that the pit bull came running back at him, full speed. The man, who was carrying a handgun, shot the pit bull in self-defense, police said, out of fear of being attacked again

The man sustained non-life threatening injuries to his right arm and is being treated at a local hospital. The pit bull was transported to a local Veterinary Hospital for treatment of a single gunshot wound.

The case is under investigation and there is no further information that will be disseminated at this time. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Manchester Police Department at 603-668-8711

Woman Claims Self Defense In Shooting Death Of Dustin Abel

(OWENSBURG) - The woman who shot 31-year-old Dustin Abel is claiming she shot and killed him in self-defense on Tuesday morning.

Indiana State Police and Greene County Sheriff's Department were called to the home in the 7200 block of State Road 58 after a woman claimed she shot Abel after he attempted to enter the home. Police say the two were in a romantic relationship and were in a domestic dispute at the time of the shooting.
Police say Abel died from a single gunshot wound to the head as he rushed through the door of the home just before 10:30 a.m.

Greene County Detective Sgt. Jim O'Malley says the woman was visibly upset when they arrived on the scene. She told police she told Abel to leave or risk being shot.

The woman had called police earlier in the day saying Abel had been at the house earlier that day and she was afraid of him. The woman then called 911 reporting Abel had returned, and she had shot him saying she feared for her life.
No charges have been filed against the woman, and the investigation is ongoing.

Abel is survived by his parents David Fred Abel and Marshiella Renee Morgan and a daughter Tiara Abel. His funeral was held Friday in Bloomfield
