I have no idea how to post pics or I would happily release my inner fudd.
I've had a crush on the Winchester model 1897 since I saw the movie The Wild Bunch as a youngster.

Early 1900's Stevens visible reloader. AKA in some circles miserable reloader.
    Very cool old .22's.
They're delicate and problematic, though. They earned the nickname "miserable loader"

Take it out a few times a year and never had a problem with it.
Wonder if modern ammo helps? Also clean after each use.
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

I remember something about .22's of that era (1930's?) being iffy on hi-vel .22 ammo. Some early Colt Woodsman models were also cracking under modern high velocity .22 ammo.
Given the difficulty of finding parts, you're doing it right. Shoot infrequently, clean after each use and probably use standard velocity ammo only.

Two pump rifles in the family, a Rem. model 121 in .22 cal that was passed down from my Dad to older brother and then to me, now my oldest son's. (Manufactured in July 1937) And a Rem. model 141 in .35 Rem cal. That I butchered and put a scope on for my son, also passed down from my Dad. (Manufactured April 1938) They both still shoot great. The .22 will take shorts, longs or long rifle interchangably and never jams unless short stroked.
