    Default New 1911

Found this interesting Colt 1991a1, new. It's got a stainless slide and blued frame. Basic, no frills .45auto. Machining is even, and fit is very nice.

It came with factory pearl grips, and I switched them out for these walnut ones.

I plan on making this a carry pistol, since my Ithaca new production is a bit too nice for an EDC. The stainless slide is good for that.

Anyone else still like the basic GI model 1911?

I like the GI 1911, I recently acquired one made by Tisas. No frills and it shoots pretty darn accurate...

"Basic" is good... bells and whistles are for kids. Well done and welcome to the club!

Is Ithaca making them or is it just the name?

I have a plane jane RIA GI that shoots great. I enjoy shooting it as much as my 70 series Gold Cup. For some reason, it's stupid accurate.

I've been very lucky with most of my pistols. They all must have been built on a Wednesday.

Ithaca is now in Ohio, and is making handmade custom 1911s with all forged tool steel parts. The slide to frame fit is incredible.
