Has anything changed in PA when it comes to carrying in a bar?
So im sitting at local tavern having lunch when we start talking about guns, its 3 of us and the bartender, all pro 2A. Well the one guy says well you cant carry in a bar, i looked at him and asked him when that changed, he told me in i forget if he said 2011 or 2013. I told him that i haven't read or saw any thing about that change, that id be willing to put $100 that he was wrong, so he pulls out some ID (no badge) saying he used to be federal leo (from Philly) said he didn't want to take my money, but never mentioned the agency and i couldn't see what his ID said. So i asked him to cite what the law was that specifically prohibited carrying in a bar he couldn't and said i cant cite the law off the top of his head.
So i fired a couple of citations from the top of my head gun law wise that if he can cite the law I'd be more then willing to give him the $100 if he can tell me what law, he goes on to say that you can come in a bar that serves food but can't sit at the bar itself. I stood my ground and picked his brain about other laws, OC, carrying in philly with a lehigh LTCF, not having to notify the officer if you get pulled over, a court house having to check a firearm, he seemed well versed on everything but this one issue, so am i correct and is he wrong as I suspect or am i wrong and missed something? He even mentioned preemption with PAs UFA, that PA set's the law as a state.
And no i didn't lead him with the questions i asked, i asked him can i OC in PA, do i have to notify a police officer if i get pulled over, etc. The only thing he seemed to be on the other side about was when i said about a LTCF recently being linked to a drivers licenses, he was happy and in favor of that. Otherwise everything was what i knew was correct.IANAL

No law, or amendment to the UFA about carrying in bars, or drinking and carrying.
If there was a change in the law, back 2011, or 2013, there would have been a thread with over a 1000 posts discussing it.

As others have mentioned, nothing has changed. Bar carry is legal in PA.
PA rarely enacts a law relating to guns, whether good or bad. The last thing that stands out in my head was 2011 or so.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

A lot of people assume. Some hear it from someone else and believe it. Others think that since it is illegal in some other states it must be illegal in Pa. doesn’t matter though because you win anyway you look at it.

There are no laws saying you can do anything, only laws that say you can't do something, which may or may not have exemptions, unless you're in New Jersey.

ok, time to take this conversation further...
I submit that if you are in a bar and surpass the legal limit to drive then you shouldn't be carrying a firearm either, (i.e., impared judgment equals surrender your keys AND bullets).

I doubt you'll get much of an argument on that issue. Of course, that's a Common Sense issue, not necessarily a Legal issue.
