Re: First Time Hunter, advice?
Paper towels? ouch....
Call me over cautious but if I'm more then 1/2 a mile from a bathroom I'm prepping for the worst shit of my life, cause I know thats when it would happen... the kind where as soon as you are done cleaning up it hits again a few more times... yeah that one.The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

If I were you I would prepare to get some blood on your hands and know how to process your kill. A good place to start is YouTube where you can type in "deer processing" or something appropriate. You can learn a lot by watching how others gut their animals. Hunting isn't just about killing. It's about putting meat in your freezer.
Thankful and Blessed by God!

WOW glad I have an experienced hunter taking me out this year for my first time! All this thread did so far was remind me was that I might need to wipe my arse!
Seriously though, everything seems to be deer deer deer... any thoughts on pointers for migratory bird hunting?Let us never forget the sacrifice of those who have fought for us all.

Make sure you can make an ethical shot. There are many Mosins out there that produce 1 foot groups at 100 yards. You can find expanding bullets in your caliber at Gander Mountain and Cabela's. If you can, hunt with an experienced hunter to give you some pointers both before and after the kill.
Good luck. Hope you bag a big one this year.
