Gun free school zone question, would you or would you not?
I did search for this answer, and saw some things related but my question was not specifically addressed. I'm thinking about going to a state game land range tomorrow, then moving on to a High school soccer event as the range is about halfway to the HS event. Not thinking of carrying at the event. (I do have LTCF). I'm just going to have my hunting rifle in the back of my SUV (no trunk!), under a blanket or somehow hidden, defintinly unloaded, etc. Am i taking too much of a chance on breaking the federal law?

I wouldn't take the risk.
Something goes sideways, even something as innocent as a fender bender in the parking lot and you could be spending some time the graybar motel.

To comply with the GFSZA the firearm must be "unloaded and in a locked container or locked firearms rack in the vehicle". So, merely unloaded and under a blanket does not meet the requirements.
Would I do it? Ask me over a coffee sometime!

Never worth it. I used to have to drop my son off at school. It would mean driving back home before work. Stupid laws
