Re: Hurricane Gustav
I think the people of New Orleans know the consequences of staying behind and not following the Mayor's orders. We all know what happened 3 years ago...they're much more prepared. The cat 5 will do a lot of damage but hopefully the death toll will be minimal IF people listen this time and don't try and get a flat screen tv out of it.
Will the weapon confiscation happen again? I hope not...once was bad enough...either way it's going to be ugly but not as ugly as it was in '05.

Re: Hurricane Gustav
After the shitstorm that was the aftermath of Katrina I would'nt be surprised if Mayor Nagin had the reporters and camera crews either completely removed or sets up a safe zone for the "safety of the press"
I seriously doubt we will see much of anything as far as video. Probably just hear a bunch of "unsubstantiated rumors"

Re: Hurricane Gustav
I'm still pissed they used my federal tax money to REBUILD a city BELOW SEA LEVEL. This is the greatest act of deliberate idiocy of our times.
I want my money back!"The rifle is the weapon of democracy. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military. The hired servants of our rulers. Only the government-and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws." (Edward Abbey, "The Right to Arms," Abbey's Road [New York, 1979])
I have my rifle. Do you?

Re: Hurricane Gustav
Maybe people will learn... 2 or 3 more times and hopefully they will learn. I'm sure there will be lots of people staying back waiting for the free goodies that will be available soon.
I like how he says "This is the storm of the century"... uhhh what was Katrina? The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Re: Hurricane Gustav
I don't care if people choose to stay behind, for whatever reason, but I wish they wouldn't be the first to expect to be rescued after the storm.

Re: Hurricane Gustav
I would top my tank off today if you get a chance. With Karina gas jumped
50 cents a gallon with in a week and a half after she went though.
It was $2.55 two days before Katrina hit, and over $3.00 two weeks later.

Re: Hurricane Gustav
The people who stay behind and need to get rescued by the Coast Guard etc. should be fined. If they are too stupid to listen to the Mayor and get out of town then they should be held accountable for.

Re: Hurricane Gustav
ANYONE attempting to confiscate legally owned guns should be shot on sight. There is no reason to ever fall for that crap again.
