    Default New unprimed brass is DOT regulated?

    Ordered Starline brass from MidwayUSA. Shipping is in a more expensive category, listed under DOT regulated materials. HUH?? I guess because brass contains lead?

    I did a contact us:

    My order of unprimed new 357 Sig brass showed a shipping charge of $8.99 listed under DOT Regulated. Why is brass DOT regulated, creating a higher shipping cost? Then confirmation email reflects a shipping charge of $8.39.
    Please explain.

    have a couple of gallon ziplocks of 357sig once fired, some cleaned sized and primed if interested
    No haz mat shipping
