Ankle Holsters
Now that the cold air is moving in, I like to wear sweatpants. What are your guys thoughts on ankle holsters? What's good, what's not? Or is it a waste.

Re: Ankle Holsters
I feel your pain. I typically wear scrubs to work in, and the waistband simply won't support the weight for any version of waist or pocket holster.
As to ankle holsters, I view them as a "better than nothing" option only, particularly if you mean sweats with the elastic ankles.
I'd sooner consider a belly-band or shoulder-holster to use with sweats.

Re: Ankle Holsters
I don't wear sweat pants with elastic ankle and if I do get a pair with them, I cut the rubber band out so they are loose.

Re: Ankle Holsters
Do a forum search for "Galco Ankle Glove".
It's been recommended countless times over the years.
What you intend to carry may factor into this as well, but I carry a stainless Colt Pony in mine and it's comfy to wear all day long.
I find that hiking boots work best as they help keep it from moving down. They offer a calf strap that can be worn as well when desired.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Ankle Holsters
I second the Galco Ankle Glove. I've owned and worn one for a few years and have had no issues or complaints about the holster. I did have to get the extension piece in order to get the holster to fit around my ankle. The part that wraps around your ankle was just not big enough.
Like Emptymag said, I normally wear mine with hiking boots. I have worn it with sneakers and dress shoes without any problems, but hiking boots are the best.
I use mine to carry a S&W 642. I plan getting one for my Glock 26.

I will be carrying my shield 9 with it. Possibly even my 9 compact as well, if all goes well with the first one for the shield.

Re: Ankle Holsters
All of these galco ankle gloves come with a calf strap, some pictures show with one, and others do not.

Re: Ankle Holsters
I have a DeSantis Apache ankle holster that I purchased thirteen years ago. For the first four years of that time, I carried a 642 everyday that I worked. My cardiologist was checking my ankles for fluid when he felt the 642 and said "Ankle weight, huh?" I smiled and said "Yup."
The Apache is still in very good condition, I just don't use it as often since I retired. It was a good investment for under $35.00.
