Glock 19 Problems. Can Anyone Help?
I have a brand new (as in purchased on Saturday) Glock 19 Gen 3. The takedown lever is engaging when the slide is racked and the slide is separating from the frame. I just got the thing and it has exactly 100 rounds through it. I really don't want to ship it to Glock for 4-6 weeks since I have had it for less than a week. Anybody have any suggestions or know of a armorer or gunsmith that can fix the problem?
It looks just like this:

If I understand you correctly, the slide lock is somehow getting depressed and sticking in the depressed position when racking the slide. First thing I'd try is cleaning the slide lock of any factory grease that might be impeding free movement. Gun Scrubber or the equivalent would be fine. You could also check the Glock owners forum.

Has the gun been disassembled or is it still as assembled from the factory?

Re: Glock 19 Problems. Can Anyone Help?
A Glock doesn't have a takedown lever but it does have a 'slide lock'. From your description that appears to be the issue.
Sounds like the slide lock spring snapped or got crushed. It's a J shaped piece of flat metal that holds the SL upwards and keeps the slide from falling off the frame.
I'm an Armorer located a few miles from Monroeville in Level Green / Trafford area if you need help. I'll fix your slide lock spring or replace it if needed for $15 cash.Last edited by cds_arms; October 27th, 2016 at 09:32 AM.

A close up of the problem would be more useful than a video of you throwing the gun. What's with the glove?

This can happen if a Glock is assembled with the slide lock installed backwards.
Maybe not every Glock, but I rectified two Glocks which were launching their slides by installing the slide lock correctly. YMMV.

Re: Glock 19 Problems. Can Anyone Help?
Gun is factory new. No modifications. Like I said, purchased Saturday. Has 100 rounds exactly through it.
Video is not mine, I needed a visual way to show what the problem is and a youtube search came up with that video. That is what is happening to me.
CDS Arms, I wish it was possible to bring it to you. I have purchased suppressors from you and the customer service is second to none. Unfortunately, you are a 5 hour drive (one way) from me.
I took the gun to the local gun store and he said there is nothing wrong with the slide lock spring but we tried replacing it just the same. Problem was still happening. We did not try reversing the slide lock. I will try that when I get home from work tonight.
Among other things, we tried a different barrel and a different recoil spring, nothing solved the problem. Called Glock, they said if no one local can solve the problem it will need to be shipped to them. Just bought it, have had it less than a week. Really don't want to send it off for months...

Re: Glock 19 Problems. Can Anyone Help?
When the slide is racked with the muzzle in even a slight downward orientation, this occursglockslide.jpg
If the trigger is pulled, the slide releases from the frame. If the slide is racked hard enough, it ejects from the frame regardless of what is going on with the trigger.
The inside of the frame looks like this.

Personally, I think that is an excessive amount of wear on the slide lock given that the gun is factory new and has exactly 100 rounds through it in the 5 days I have owned it. I have tried reversing the slide lock and it did not solve the problem...Last edited by Oneontanurse; October 27th, 2016 at 10:32 PM.
