Default Savage Mark II Fv-Sr optic options?

Hey everyone, I recently picked up a savage mark ii fv-sr with the intentions of suppressing it. I will be using this gun for squirrels and other small varmints along with basic range shooting from bench etc. Im leaning towards the nikon rimfire 3x9 or the primary arms 6x scopes... But not really sure what to do. What do you guys have? What do you guys recommend? And what mounting option?

Mine lives under a Japan-made Tasco 6-18. Doesn't your Savage have the rail? Lowest height possible is the usual recommendation.

I don't like the nikon because it is not adjustable objective and therefore at close range/high magnification you will have paralax issues (like if you're shooting at 25 yards for groups it will be annoyingly blurry) other then that the nikon glass is excellent for the price.

My preference would be for a AO scope if any higher magnification then about 4 - 6x, or like you said a lower power scope. I think 4x is a good magnification level for hunting plinking

I was thinking something like these might be ideal...Vortex also makes AO scopes, as does BSA, simmons, millett...

I've had 2 Mark II FV-SR rifles - put both in Boyds stocks. My last one had a Mueller 4.5-14 AO. The current one has a junk 2-7, but works well enough. I plan on getting a replacement at some point. I like Burris tactical rings, but you really can get away with something less beefy for a 22lr. I would go higher than the PA 6x scope though. 3-9 should be good, but you might even want higher magnification if you're shooting small groups etc. The Mueller scopes are pretty decent for the money, so you might check them out.

I would like the glass to be clear 25-50 yards... that is important. this will be 90% range 10% hunting. Trying to keep the glass about 150 or less

I have posted this before, but I really like the Warne low rings on my FV-SR. You can see in the picture how low they get my scope to the barrel. This is a Vortex Crossfire II 4-12x50 AO in Warne low rings. I picked this scope up for about $130 on sale a bit ago. They go for about $170 on amazon, but this is with the v-plex reticle, not BDC, so I do not have the BDC marks.
