    Default FFL Transfer Fees

(I hope this would be an appropriate place to post this topic. Admins please move as necessary).

Just ordered 2 lowers and wanted to have it transferred to Trop Gun. Called today to verify the transfer fee ---> it's now $33 per item, up from $18 a few months ago.

With that atrocious price, I'd like to go somewhere else. I really like Trop, but I'm not going to pay a fee that's almost the cost of the lower ...

Does anyone know a cheaper FFL in the Lancaster/Harrisburg area? OR up in the State College area (up to an hour away).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check out this thread. You shouldn't have to pay more than $20.

If you're going to be in the State College area try Ron's gun repair. He's a forum member here (Xringshooter). He charges $20, and I believe it's less per subsequent items on one 4473. I've only ever transferred one item at a time with him.

    You raise a good point.

    It's actually 2 lowers.

You can put more than one item on a 4473? So how does it work; one transfer fee per 4473 form filled out?

Each FFL sets their own fees. It could be per 4473 or it could be per firearm. These are their rates for doing business. There will be $2 for PICS check which is good for every firearm on the 4473. Since they are transfers the $3 taxable surcharge per firearm does not apply.

Ron was going to be my suggestion, as well. He posted this contact information in his "Sporting goods garage sale" thread.

Thanks for the suggestion. Think I'll be giving Ron a call as he's the cheapest I can find currently.

    Thanks all!
