Question Carrying Extra Firearm for Driving/Being Seated?

Just curious who carries their primary firearm strongside and an additional firearm either crossdraw, on their ankle, or in their pocket as a means for quicker access when driving or in a seated position. What have you learned?

I have learned drawing from a pocket while seated/in a driving position is even more difficult (awkward) than strong side draw.

I will sometimes carry a second firearm in my glove compartment. Other times, I will just bring a second old leather holster I have and do the unthinkable...unholstered my firearm when I get to my car, get in, place it in second holster, and place in glove compartment.

Glove compartment is easy access, but not really quick access.

I'm thinking about getting one of these for my car.

Sorry, I should have been more specific regarding pocket carry and being seated. Several times I have carried my Ruger LCP (in a pocket holster) in the "document pocket" (chest pocket) of my 5.11 Big Horn jacket.

If it is going to be a long trip I use a shoulder rig.

I might have to check out this jacket. It's not too "5.11-ish" in that it isn't screaming "Tactical, hey I've got a concealed gun on me."

If you want a real useless gun while seated in a vehicle, it's one IWB at 5 o'clock. When I carry in that location, I have the second firearm in my glove compartment.

Yup! That's why I got it years ago. I wanted a plain black jacket that keeps you warm but isn't too bulky. I also like zippered front slash pockets. I didn't consider carrying my LCP in the document pocket until after I bought it.

I think, were I traveling in Syria, Iraq, or Afghanistan, I would likely feel the need for a 2nd/backup firearm... the US, not so much.

Kidding aside, the vast majority of individuals will never encounter a situation in their lifetime where drawing their carry piece is necessary, let alone a backup. Being prepared is prudent. Please help me understand. No disrespect intended.

A lot of people are getting ambushed while sitting in their vehicles, especially where I work.

Trips of any length, or trips into more populated areas, I'll pull my gun or gun/holster combo and put it in my door pocket. The firearm is double action, and the door pocket is a nice fit and easily accessible, but invisible from outside the car.

being a lefty, this is relevant to my interests.
I've been considering one of those cloak tuck docks and seeing if my Safariland holsters will work with it.
