    Default Stoeger Cougar?

Any opinions or comments on the Stoeger Cougar? Looks like an affordable, but nice all metal SA/DA 9mm.

So for a range toy and home defense (to be one of the many hidden guns around my house), it's good to go? How is the SA and DA trigger pulls? Thanks!

Definitely would fill those roles well. I found the trigger very comparable to the berettas there modeled after. I'm sure the 92fs purists will chime in with a better awnser. For a $300- $400 gun though it is pretty good. If I saw one for the right price I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up.

I had the 8045 model. It was a beast. Very heavy but a nice overall.

Had one for a couple years in 9 mm. It shot very well for me, but was a bit heavy for daily carry.

I would recommend it, kinda regret getting rid of it. Grab one used.

You could get two Hi-Points for that price.

Get six or twelve Hi-Points and stash away! And no matter which one you pick up they will all have the same "manual of arms".

What--throw it at the bad guy? 'Bout all they're good for.

I had one but traded it in the heat of passion. It was a good shooter and always reliable. A lot depends on whether you like Berettas. The finish is not quite as good as the original Beretta Cougar but unless you plan to store it in the safe, it's not an issue. Used, I think it's a worthwhile purchase, at the right price. Yes, it's a little heavy for carry, and a little chubby for concealment, but the quality is very good.

The Stoeger Cougar is originally a Beretta design.
