    Default M&P mag safety

I've been looking really closely at the M&P. It is available with, or without a mag safety. I hate those damn things, but the only problem is if you get one without it they stamp

"warning, gun is capable of being fired without the magazine!!!!!

down the side of the damn slide.

I know it's not a huge deal, but I like my guns clean looking and it just seems really stupid. We have too many warning labels in this world already and I don't need to look at that one all the damn time. Anyway.....

How hard is it to remove the mag safety from a M&P. If I get one it's the first thing i'd like to do.

    Thanks

It's available with and without, but as you know, if you get it without then you get the warning on the slide. If you get one with, then follow these instructions to remove it...

Or you could just get one already without it and get your slide refinished and/or media blasted

Thanks. I'd rather take it out then have the warning, or have to media blast.

Of course I could just make it pink.

Anyway, i'm looking into them and I really like the M&P. I'll just have to bring alot of 9mm ammo and shoot your's a while

Thanks, just keeping my eyes open for a good price.

    Simple. Follow the above instructions.

My Compact had it...I removed it. my Full Size never had one. I don't like the warning label either...then again, a plastic gun is butt ugly from the word go. I like to think of these plastic guns as the Ak47 of handguns. None of them would win Miss America....but they run like a raped ape.

Buy one with or without the safety, make it how you want it...then run the hell out of it. They will make more.

Mine came without the mag safety and I was a little turned off by the warning on the slide too...but it's really not a big deal. As BUCK said, it's a gun made to be carried and shot, not to be displayed to try to wow people.

just buy one of each, then switch the slides on them and there you go. sell the extra parts on gunbroker if you want.

i have a full size m&p 9mm with mag safety if you wanna have fun with it at the group shoot.

Take it for what it's worth, but Mas Ayoob discussed this in his LFI class. His recommendation is that there are two things you should never do to a carry gun -- change to a "hair (target) trigger," and disable any safety device. If the unthinkable happens, a prosecutor will be all over this and it's tough to refute (the manufacturer thought it was necessary but YOU defeated it). If the gun never had it, it's not an issue. I think most of the M&Ps sold outside the places where they're required (CA, NY, MA) do not have the mag safety.

nope, bought mine in FL and it has a mag safety on it.

aside from that point, the OP has solved his issue since posting about it a year ago.
