Re: Joe Biden says he wrote the assault weapons ban
Obama/Biden '08.
I mean ummm . . . . Oh screw it. Who needs assault rifles? <--Sarcasm [edit: had to point that out]
I know there are people that are really pushing for third party candidates or fourth party candidates saying things like "voting for the lesser of two evils still gets you evil." Sure that is technically right, but my question is this; Do the third party candidates support everything you do 100%? If not you are doing the same thing by voting for them. Choosing the lesser of all evils. With that logic very few people would vote for ANYONE. Is McCain my perfect candidate? No. Does he support some of the things I do? Yep. Does Bob Barr also support some things I do? Yep. How about Ron Paul? Again, yes. The thing is I have to choose what I feel will be in the best interest of the country. If I thought Paul or Barr had a better shot I might think more seriously about voting for them. The problem is they are just like the other politicians out there. They have an agenda. If they are able to secure 3% (or is it 5%) of the national vote their party continues to be put on the national ballot. They are all wealthy politicians. As was stated in another thread the best way to effect change is to start at the local level. Get involved. Vote your concience, but don't delude yourself and buy into the hype. They all have an agenda and that is to further their political career.

Re: Joe Biden says he wrote the assault weapons ban
Logical fallacy. You are assuming that voting for a candidate you don't completely agree with is no better than voting for the "lesser of two evils", which isn't necessarily the case. For example, let's say I agree with 85% of Barr's platform, but only 13% of McCain's and 17% of Obama's. Well, if we leave out concerns of "electability" and "spoiler vote" for a moment, it would be completely reasonable for me to vote for Barr, and much less reasonable to vote for Obama. And if I agree with someone 85% (or even 51%) then I'm not really voting for the lesser of two evils. Voting for the lesser of two evils implies you are voting for someone you disagree with the least rather than voting for someone you agree with the most.
The problem is they are just like the other politicians out there. They have an agenda. If they are able to secure 3% (or is it 5%) of the national vote their party continues to be put on the national ballot. They are all wealthy politicians. Don't know if he did or didn't, and don't care to look it up, but I do know that Biden lies quite a bit. Most blowhards do.
