Default Have you ever bounced back from AR to AK and back?

When I got out of the military and began my civilian gun nut stage, I started off with AR-15s(rifles, ammo, mags etc.). After two years I got my first AK and haven't really looked back until I just got another AR in on a recent trade. I hadn't shot an AR in quite awhile so I took a few boxes out and shot. Now I have the AR bug again. But I also know that as soon as I pick one platform, I will end up getting rid of the other and starting the cycle all over again. Ive been getting better at this shit but I still get the itch.
I know that I just need to stop being a cheap bastard and enjoy both without selling off half of my shit every few years. Anyone else have this problem??

Always owned AR's and I've tried the AK thing a couple times, never sold my AR's while owning an AK. I could never get use to the AK, good guns just prefer the AR platform.

If you prefer the AK platform that's fine, they just are not as modular as the AR.

Now that I have an AR that can eat steel cased ammo, I am more inclined to keep both platforms and stockpile for both. Brass cased ammo is just too expensive

The only way you will ever "get better at this shit" is if you stop selling and just keep buying!

I always preferred the AK. They are simple - like me. I found the AR to be too "complex".

I've come around to the AR15 - mostly because I can buy them in pieces a little at a time.
If I could put together AK47s the same way, I'd probably have a dozen of them by now, but as it stands I had two and sold one because I needed money.
In the mean time, I built two more AR15s because it's just so easy to do over time.
I am less intimidated by them now and I appreciate their light weight and ability to customize, so I have a harder time choosing one over the other.

ETA: My first AR started choking on steel after about 1,000 rds which left me unimpressed. I should try it in my other one(s) and see what happens.

I like both, but the AR wins in an overall preference. I think the main factor for me is the milder recoil on the AR.

Both forever! I like a third type in the mix, the HK family.
