Default Gainey is at it again.

Fleabag started a bill about compulsory insurance for firearm owners. I read this in the Northampton Press. Tried to find a link for it in the online version but can't locate it. Wants firearm owners to have to pay for insurance for EACH firearm. I'll keep trying to find something online about it post a link. Asshole actually claims that it will strengthen our 2A rights. Pretty ballsy thing to say about back-door gun control. Naturally there's a fine if you don't comply. I'm glad Marcia Hahn is our Rep. If she tried that her whole family would disown her.
I just like to pop in every now and then to see what nancyinpa has for sale.

We have to pay a separate premium for every vehicle , even though we can only drive on e at a time.

And like in the cities , the poor misunderstood and underprivileged (and ILLEGAL) won't have too.

Since this state is so creative in creating tax revenue this could be extended to church attendance, voting and any expression of free speech.
    Not.

I think this has been tried before. Died in committee.

As well it should, since its a racist concept and a clear violation of Harper v. Virginia Board of Elections.

    Greetings,

Would anyone be so kind as to check my understanding of this bill? It seems that in the definitions section, the policy would be required for:
    1. Any handgun
    2. NFA regulated Shotguns and Rifles

But NOT for Schedule 1 shotguns and rifles. Am I reading this correctly?

It would seem there are three additional arguments against this bill (beyond the infringement issues). They are:

    1. It would create an unfair financial burden, as discriminatory to handgun and Title 2 firearms owners as an example.
    2. To the best of my knowledge, there are no PA licensed insurance companies having any such existing policy.
    3. Typically, insurance policies do NOT pay for any illegal use of the insured item. For example, if my car is stolen (crime #1), and used in a hit and run (crime # 2), no payment to anyone will occur, with the exception of my claim for the theft. Further example; if I injure or kill someone while DUI, my policy will not pay. Or, do I need a different policy?

What is it that Rep Gainey has against us? He keeps introducing bizarre legislation that would have zero positive effect on actual crime committed with firearms, and in this case has the audacity to state this bill would:

"The requirement of firearm liability insurance does
not impinge on, but rather protects, Second Amendment rights
and the self-defense rights of responsible firearm owners."

    Thanks for any insight!

    Regards, Jim

Jim you seem to be right. Here's the definition:
Any pistol or revolver with a barrel length less than 15 inches, any shotgun with a barrel length less than 18
inches or any rifle with a barrel length less than 16 inches, or any pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun with an overall length of less than 26 inches.
Take note also that this "bill" has NOT been filed for action as of yet.
