According to a crawler on FOX news, Associated Press is claiming people wanting the ban (70 percent) is at highest since the poll first was taken 10 months after Sandy Hook shootings.

I suspect they are "cherry picking" there sample set. Either that or using bias questions. Rarely do they state the actual questions ask and in what order.

If the word "assault" was not included in the survey the result would have been different.

The word assault implies an intention to do violence. That word will always skew a survey result.

Most people fail to understand that assault is am intent of how to use not a type of weapon.
Anti 2A folks have learned how to use the assault buzzword to get their desired result.

In boot camp a hand to hand combat instructor pointed out that a slim Bic pen could kill an enemy just as easily a a knife. So today we have tactical pens. If the anti 2A folks get wind of tactical pens we can expect to be bombarded with anti assault pen pitches.

Assault is an intent not a characteristic of an object.

Well, intents are served by design. If I intend to drive in an automobile race, the car to use will be a race car. If I intend to conduct an assault upon a machine gun bunker, I will apply suppressive fire using an assault weapon. If I walk into a mall and sucker-punch 10 people, I have committed an assault upon each individually and upon all severally. If I do it with a small bat, the bat becomes an instrument of crime used in a multiple assault. My point being, I don't think we can escape the anti's use of assault that easily or innocently. But I'm with you.
