That is a great price on a Saiga these days. New they run in the $700 range.

I bought an unconverted Saiga 223 a few years ago with ammo for $200. I ended up selling it to JayBell on this forum..RIP.

To be "converted" you have to cut an inch off of the end of the barrel and then......wait a minute....wrong "converted".....sorry.

Which one does it look more like?

Basic conversion to accept AK mags
    Saiga rear.jpg

I'd say even the shorter is worth about $400. Check out these conversion kits and prices. #16 is the most traditional look, but you can also source a pistol grip and stock elsewhere depending on what look you want. (Wood, generic grip).

If already converted, I'd want to know if it was done by a reputable company, or by someone in the basement who may have hacked it up.

There are guys that convert that do a better job than "professional" gunsmiths, so don't think that just because you pay a smith to do something that it's done correctly.

OP, you need to have a bullet guide for most Saigas to use high cap AK47 mags. Most Saiga owners end up doing the complete conversion and replacing the stock and handguard.

Thanks for the info. it was converted. I'll have to take a closer look at it for the bullet guide

Converted or not, that $399.00 price is a buy. Even WASRs haven't been that cheap in a long time, and I know my unconverted SAIGA practically shoots guided bullets. Buy it.
All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.
