Newbie has questions...

Hello All,

I am new to this site and new to the state of PA. I am in the process of buying a hand gun and I would like to know what I need to do in order to do it legally and being in compliance with the PA laws

- Do I need to apply for a permit to own a gun?
- Where do I apply for that?
- Do I need to register my gun once I buy it?
- Where do I do that?
- Is it true that one can carry a cancelled gun in the state of PA?
- Do I need a special permit for carrying a gun?
- Where do I apply for that permit?

Any information that you can provide that you think I should know during this process please send it my way.

NO

- Do I need to register my gun once I buy it?

The PICS form does that thru state police...State Police seems to have a 6mo backlog doing this. You wont get any notice or anything either

- Is it true that one can carry a concealed gun in the state of PA?

YES

- Do I need a special permit for carrying a gun?
YES

- Where do I apply for that permit?

Your county seat, usually the courthouse. the County Sheriff Dept does this, contact your county Sheriff for proper instructions

JayBell pretty much covered it but I would add that you should check out the PAFOA page on Chester County for information and links to resources for getting an LTCF.
