Default Question for Browning Auto 5 Owners

Recently acquired one. I read on the internet that, while it is an excellent gun, its unique action has a tendency to break forearms, and that its a good idea to sand away some of the wood on the upper concave side of the forearm that may contact the tube in recoil, and crack it.

Do you Auto 5 owners think this should be done, or do you think its overkill?

    Thanks

    Tommy

.1 Are you talking new production inertia actions or the old A5 recoil action guns?

Made in the 1950's and it hasn't broken yet? That ought to speak for itself. I'd leave it alone.

Your point is well taken. I can't be sure if it's the original forend, but given the wood patina, I'm pretty sure it is

Belgium made A-5's are highly desired and collectible. Unless your shotgun is a beater don't Bubba it.

You mean I shouldn't cut my a5 down to an SBS?

Thanks for the feedback guys. All things considered, I will leave the gun alone (no mods)

My dad had a Fabrique Nationale Auto-5 that was later passed on to me. It is older than I am and nothing of the sort ever happened to it.
