A shame that this kind of thing happens.

Man Kills Girlfriend While Showing Her Gun
GRETNA, La. — A 23-year-old man's attempt to show his girlfriend a pistol ended in tragedy when the gun discharged, killing her, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's deputies said.
Deputies said 23-year-old Averyell Davis was shot in the abdomen Monday night.
Sheriff's spokesman Col. John Fortunato said Curtis C. Murray has been arrested and booked with one count of negligent homicide.
The couple was in the living room of their home in Gretna when the gun discharged, Fortunato said.
He says Davis told first responders that her boyfriend accidentally shot her, Fortunato said.
Davis died shortly after arriving at the hospital. The 2nd amendment is the RESET BUTTON on the constitution.

Re: Another case of unsafe gun handling
This is a sad story. It could have been prevented. That boy ought to know how to handle a gun better. In a way I feel sorry for him because he made a stupid mistake. In another way he kinda got what was coming, toying around with a firearm. In the end we all have to live with the mistakes. I feel sorry that he lost his wife and I grieve for her family.

Re: Another case of unsafe gun handling
These type of AD/ND stories piss me off. Its like just like the drunk driver who always seems to kill someone else, and they walk away without a scratch. Now this clown has killed his girlfriend instead of accidentally shooting himself. I feel no remorse towards him, but I feel sorry that a young woman has needlessly lost her life, and a family has a lost a child.

Re: Another case of unsafe gun handling
This is exactly why when we get people, especially young ones, who want to buy their first gun (i.e. G.O.A.T.) we have to implore them to learn the right way. The antis got another mark on their side of the board with this article. We as an organization have the ability to prevent this and at the same time strenghten our numbers and thereby our political clout.

Re: Another case of unsafe gun handling
What a shame and I do feel sory for the girlfriends family. But I agree with the others as I do feel anything towards the idot who should know better and should have been trained and shown how to handle firearms.

Re: Another case of unsafe gun handling
This is sad. I feel for the guy, but at the same time I feel like he should have known better even with no training. This is why I am thankful for this site and the people who use it. If i went out and just bought a gun I wouldn't know the first thing to do as I was not raised with firearms. Thankfully someone refered me to this sight where I got ed-ja-ma-cated. I remember when I got my gun this past weekend everyone wanted to see it. I reluctantly showed people but only after flipping open the cylinder everytime and making sure it was loaded. Some people thought I was OCD but i told them better safe than sorry.

Is it so hard to check the chamber? Even IF I know it's empty, I still check my weapon before I do anything.

Just 'cause girlfriend says it was an accident doesn't mean it was an accident.
How do you "show" someone a gun and end up shooting them? Hey, look at this; when I point it at you and pull the trigger, here's what happens. Oops.
