LTCF Ethnicity
I took a coworker of mine up to Doylestown the other day to get her LTCF and was shocked when the deputy came to the counter and told my coworker that Hispanic/Latino was not an option on the LTCF. She was told that she would have to put black as her ethnicity. She was pretty shocked and offended from what I could tell. Just a heads up to those who may be Hispanic/Latino going for their LTCF.

Re: LTCF Ethnicity
They need to remove it. Who cares? (other than Government people trackers)
There's a photo anyway.

Re: LTCF Ethnicity
According to Bucks County website they use SP 4-127, Application For A Pennsylvania License To Carry Firearms. There is no entry on the form for ethnicity.
You shouldn't be shocked. You are confusing ethnicity with race.
Examples of Race are most commonly defined as:
White – A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa.
Black or African American – A person having origins in any of the Black racial groups of Africa.
American Indian or Alaska Native – A person having origins in any of the original peoples of North and South America (including Central America) and who maintains tribal affiliation or community attachment.
Asian – A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian subcontinent including, for example, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippine Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander – A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, or other Pacific Islands.
The above definitions are what is used by the Census Bureau, federal agencies, state govt, etc... Per these definitions your friend falls under American Indian, or if she traces her roots deeper, likely White if her Hispanic roots originate in Spain
Hispanic is her ETHNICTY not her RACE.

Re: LTCF Ethnicity
Race in the LTCF software is not a fill-in field. It's in the drop down menu from the program tool bar that cannot be overwritten. The card will not print unless one of the following is clicked on:
Alaska Native
American Indian
Asian
Black
Pacific Islander
Unknown
White
Or so i'm told.

Re: LTCF Ethnicity
Here's a little more info on the difference between ethnicity and race....
For a claim to ethnicity, one has to have 4 commonalities with the group they self identify:
1.shared descent
2.shared language
3.shared sanctuaries and sacrifices
4.shared customs
Based on these, Hispanic is not an ethnic group. The term "Hispanic" commonly applies to the people of countries once colonized by Spain, particularly the countries of Latin America, and the Philippines. I doubt your friend classifies herself within the same group as Filipinos.
Examples are a bit clearer in Eastern Europe. Ethnic examples of White (the race) Eastern Europeans would be Poles, Slavs, and Czechs.

Re: LTCF Ethnicity
Here's the form. Check it out. There is not box for ethnicity.
Race is a box and is already defined in posts #2 and #6.

I don't mean to make your friend out as a fool but it is funny that she got her panties in a knot over not understanding the difference in the definitions. She's the minority and doesn't know what she is? She needs a little self education before she takes offense.
