Manual decocking for production uspsa/ipsc
I am looking to get into production class uspsa/ipsc and am strongly leaning towards a CZ SP-01. There are two models I'm considering... one has a manual safety, the other has a decocking lever.
Considering that in production, the first shot must be double action, I would have to start hammer down. This doesn't rule out the manual safety version, but would mean having to manually decock the hammer.
Manually decocking seems like a really bad idea in general. As far as I can tell, if you're manually decocking, you might as well throw away all your gun-safety rules. Do people actually do this? Is this even legal in shooting sports?

Yes, people do it. Yes, it's legal.
People manually decock lever action deer rifles all the time.
Remember the four rules and it's ok.

I decock my CZ75 compact all the time, mind you the decocker brings it to 1/4 cock, and that in its self is ok too, hard to follow all the rules to decock the cz as you have to pull the trigger, you might liik into a lanyard to do it.
put the lanyard in the hamer hole, then pull the trigger while pointing in a safe direction and holding the lanyard back, slowly release the hammer down till it is fully decocked.
might want to practice this at the range a few times before you do it in a room too, it can get tricky to get the motion right.Skeet is a sport where you are better to hit half of each bird then completely blast one and miss the other completely.
