Default Carrying in a WV National Forest

I'm planning on a hiking/camping trip in a few weeks in the Monongahela NF and I'm having trouble finding information regarding concealed and open carry. If I have a PA LTCF can I open carry or only carry concealed? What if you do not have a permit WV recognizes? Since the laws with this stuff can be confusing I was going to make some phone calls during the week but didn't know if anyone knew of any useful links.

Your PA LTCF is valid there. For the rest of your questions here is a helpful link.

Click on WV and a PDF will open stating all their rules and what not. This should awnser all of your questions.

didn't WV pass Permitless carry? I thought it went into effect May 1. ETA: 6/5/16 effective date.

It gets complicated because NFS policy and State laws both apply. Generally you can carry on NFS land if the state allows carrying in some form. Check this link for a start.

    Thanks for the help.

I'm pretty confident I can carry concealed without a problem but would prefer to open carry since it would be a little more comfortable with a pack. I was also curious for some of my buddies from Maryland. Of course they can't get a MD permit and didn't know if they would be good to open or conceal carry.
