Mechanical zero to dialed in in three clicks.
Well actually two turns up on the front and one click to the left on the rear. This may be a good sign. I figured my armorers wrench failing this morning was a bad omen for my budget build. It shot really well and I've never dialed in so easily. Do you think now that it's set that switching my a2 flash hider to a three prong sp1 style would throw it off again?

This is a trap. If I say, "I think.....", I'm opening myself up for attack.

Any alteration to the rifle, especially the barrel, came change your point of impact. I wouldn't worry about it. Change the flash hider and make a trip the range and find out. As long as your shooting style/abilities are leading to good shot groups, making the adjustments is easy.

I'd be surprised if you'd see a difference.
Now if you were a expert marksman, shooting a match rifle from the bench with hand loads and a scope at 200+ yards, then yes it might make a difference changing out the flash hider.Toujours prêt

Yes it can shift, harmonics, turbulance, all that jazz.
Don't get too happy and over torque it or you can change it's attitude for good ( bripro....hammer...bigger) !I always sleep with my guns when you are gone

Re: Mechanical zero to dialed in in three clicks.
That's great. I just zeroed my optic this week and then started working on the iron sights. At 25 yards it wasn't even on the paper. I ran out of time so I still have absolutely no idea at all where those shots are going.
I know it's not me because I trained on iron sights in the AF and scored rather well. Of course that was years ago, but still.

Re: Mechanical zero to dialed in in three clicks.
This technique will get you on paper without firing a shot.
1. Take the upper off the rifle
2. Remove the bolt
3. Rest the upper on something steady (range bag)
4. Get down and look through the bore. Center your target in the middle of the bore
5. Without moving the upper look through your sights. Adjust elevation and windage to move your sight picture onto the target
6. Confirm the target is in the middle of the bore
6. Reassemble and fire a round or two to confirm your on paper.
7. Adjust as needed.Last edited by Hawk; March 26th, 2016 at 08:17 AM.

If your optic co-witnesses you can just move your sights to meet your dot. That works for me anyway.

Re: Mechanical zero to dialed in in three clicks.
Duh. Why didn't I think of that? I will do this at home today. This way I have at least a prayer of hitting something with the iron sights.
On a bench rest I was able to get 5 shots touching each other in the middle of the target at 25 yards using my optic so I know it's not me, and it sure as hell better not be the rifle.
