    Default Private citizen training

Is Act 235 training available for private citizens not carrying for employment? If not, is there any equivalent training that is?

Anybody can go through the training, you don't have to have a job lined up. If you don't plan on being an armed guard don't waste your money. Before you can get the 40 hour course you have to pass a background check with PSP, get a physical & pass a psycho test. All this cost money, then you pay the state, then you get a letter to be admitted to the 40 hr course mo money. I did mine 5 yrs ago spent $8-900.00. Most of the course is about the law, you have to qualify shooting on the last day, they don't teach you how to shoot, your supposed to know before you go.
If you are not going to work as guard spend your money on some good training at a range near home, I am sure somebody here can recommend somewhere for you to go.

Thanks. I've been shooting for years. Guess I'm really looking for some of the legal stuff. Have a carry permit, but just want to be as educated as I can on tactical defense should I ever need to use it.

Act 235 won't help you there.

No it won't. Have had my Act 235 for about 8 years.
The classes to get certified basically thought me nothing.
