Shipping Handguns
Good evening ladies & gents. To start off...I have done quite a lot of searching and cannot find any up-to-date threads regarding my questions. I am located just outside of Philly and want to ship a pistol to a licensed gunsmith in Easton PA. YES, I know its only an hour and a half away but finding the 3 hours to do so is a challenge to say the least. I have called both UPS and FedEx and both services have been as useless as a pork chop in Jerusalem regarding the most cost effective means of shipping a pistol. As a matter of fact, I have caught quite a bit of attitude when asked for help to ship a firearm Does anyone know FOR SURE what my options are and what would be the most economic means of shipping? Thank you in advance for any help regarding this issue.

Re: Shipping Handguns
UPS and FedEx require OVERNIGHT/next day air delivery ($$$). Must go to their hubs to ship or have their pickup.
USPS is not allowed for non-FFLs. You could try to get a local FFL to ship it for you via USPS - his fee + USPS fee must be considered.
Best bet would be to just find the time and take yourself.Last edited by tl_3237; March 14th, 2016 at 07:50 PM.

Re: Shipping Handguns
Check out an FFL holder. Sometimes they are cheaper.

Also, Budsgunshop.com is currently pushing some firearm shipping company. Haven't been on in a while to help stave off my impulse buying but might be worth a check. Last I looked it was like $29.99 shipping for all firearms.
I'm only here for the wood c-rings.

How much is your time worth and how much will gas and other incidentals cost you for the trip? If an FFL ships it for you, you're probably looking at $50 or less and no hassle from UPS or FedEx.

Re: Shipping Handguns
Shipping in the northeast should not be that expensive. I shipped a sig 228 to Iowa in December and FedEx quoted me over $100 and for "standard" overnight shipping whatever that means. Go west of the Mississippi and prices rise dramatically. I shipped through my LGS and could have gotten around $40 with $400 insurance. Ended up paying a little over $50 with $600 insurance.
