Default Off the Shelf or solvent trap Form 1 Suppressor...

the more i think about this the more interested im becoming, the monster is peeking around the corner...

Im in the market for a new suppressor, originating at a sparrow, something tiny for my new M&P22 and while googling, came across ALOT of links and youtube vids for homebuilds on form 1's..

bottom line is.. do they work? same suppression?

there is a substantial price differance between a sparrow size supp and building a form 1.. for example, discount preppers micro tube or similiar sizes out there are averaging $150..

    what do you guys think?

    opinions? suggestions? links?

Here's a short series of videos showing how effective the home made or fuel filter cans can be. He doesn't get into the legal aspect of it that's on you to follow the law's however Jeff the host in these videos is a Class 3 manufacture.

My favorite 22 suppressor is definitely the Huntertown Arms 22 Guardian.

but I personally like their Stainless Steel model if I was buying one today:

A lot of people like to dog Huntertown Arms, but it really is a nice suppressor.

I made a form1 suppressor, honestly its heavy, mine is big enough to handle most except magnum calibers. and works well but is just too big for 22. in a small can you need well thought out baffles as you dont have the volume to compensate for a bad design. by the time you buy tube, caps, spacers, freezeplugs or whatever for baffles forming tools, drill bits, engraving you could shop around and find a factory built 22cal for not much more. for larger calibers I think its worth the time/money saved to build but not for a small light 22 cal.

22 cans are pretty hard to DIY and be at commercial price point. I would in all honesty look at the SWR spectre2 not a super lite weight but will take all the way from Rimfire up to 5.7x28 and I believe 22 hornet.

well.. range buddy has a sparrow, nice little suppressor, tiny, and below the sights of his SR22, which is the same height as my new MP, thats why im thinking mini/micro suppressors, if its larger than 1.2 diam it enters the sight plane,, rendering the sights useless.. and lets face it, the sparrow is a tiny and effective little f**ker, but its averaging $420 and no one has it in stock, and the few and far between i found that do have it, are averaging $500, plus shipping, and the FFL fees..

tax stamp goes for both so i didnt add it in yet

now a small DIY can averages $175 with everything, and i have a bench top lathe

i think im going to give this a try..

ill keep you guys updated.. sorta

niiiice.. i havent heard any first hand, hence my favoring of a sparrow, its looks to be slightly shorter than that.. and as best i can tell.. they sound pretty much identical, the slide slamming forward is making most of the noise

now thats an oxymoron.. 22lr slide slamming forward.. lol..

but WOW.. i just saw the msrp of it.. under $300 bucks!!, $200 for the micro..

ill be back after some research on this

Huntertown Arms Guardian for the win.
