Why are they calling this a musket? Win 1873

This is a link to an auction. This is one of several listings for Winchester 1873 that they are referring to as "muskets". I always thought muskets were smoothbore and usually muzzloaded. Neither apply, This is a lever action rifle. What gives?

Simple answer: in the 19th century any long firearm in military trim was called a musket, esp in the years immediately following the Civil War.
